We love people who help us!
Every year, Catholic Charities Emergency Services hosts the Toys for Tots distribution. Our space is large, but not so large that we can host our Clothing Program, Food Shelf and Toys for Tots all at the same time.
So, each year, the Clothing Program must be packed up and put into storage for about a month. For me, this means working with volunteers to pack and load the clothes, and then making at least 10-15 trips with our truck to bring the clothes to an off-site location a generous donor has loaned us. We then have to unload the clothes, and then a month later, re-load the clothes, make 10-15 trips back, unpack, and re-assemble the program. That’s a lot of hours on a forklift!
This year though, instead of a loaned space Bernick’s Pepsi loaned us a semi-trailer. On Monday, my volunteers and I packed up the clothes, and loaded them into the trailer. Clothes were stacked from top to bottom, front to back. And then – the best part of all: we closed the door and Bernick’s drove the trailer away. In a month it will come back, and we’ll unload it, and unpack the clothes.
I can’t tell you how much stress their generosity has alleviated – not to mention all of the time they saved me and my volunteers in loading and unloading at an off-site location. It’s just so unbelievable. I have time to write and say thank you!
